The new compact 2-k-dosing system
Report from “besser lackieren”, 21/2006, page 6
The new L&S Oberflaechentechnik dosing system “Simply-2-Mix” is designed for maximum effectiveness in situations with a reduced number of work steps, like, for example, priming plus finish coating. Compact design combined with proven technology distinguishes the new dosing system.
“The standard version allows for up to three colors and two hardeners”, says Gerhard Pelzl, managing director of L&S Oberflaechentechnik. Flexibility and easy handling by an electronic control unit are further design features of the “Simply-2-Mix”. Pneumatic valves drive the coloring material, hardener and the cleaning media. Material pressure and supply are controlled by separate pumps. All material-bearing parts are made of high-grade steel. Quantities are sized by gear wheel measuring cells (optional: maintenance-free mass flow counters). An integrated cleaning-program enables quick color changes. The “Simply-2-Mix” handles solvent and water lacquers.

L&S donates christmas party
2nd December 2006
This Christmas, L&S Oberflaechentechnik brought hope to families in need. Together with the “St. Elizabeth Stiftung” in Detmold, L&S organized a Christmas party for more than 130 attendants, most of them children in primary school age. Of course, every child obtained a gift from Santa Claus. To see the shining in the childrens eyes confirmed that the decision to spend the Christmas budget on this event was right.
L&S Oberflaechentechnik would like to thank the volunteers from the “St. Elizabeth Stiftung” and the “Strate-brewery”, Detmold, which spontaneously donated beverages, for making this festive event a full success.

Job order coating company with new robot-system-solution
Report from “besser lackieren”, 17/2006, page 2
Job order coating company Recon.paint GmbH obtained its first custom-made L&S Oberflaechentechnik robot in April 2005. When an order to paint six construction units had hit their books in early 2005, they decided to buy a robot. “We have got the order, we need a robot”, concluded the Recon.paint management. L&S Oberflaechentechnik was selected to deliver and install the new equipment. By April 2005, the system was already up and running. The user-friendliness of the L&S solution convinced Recon.paint.
“We minimized the number of interfaces because the 2-component-system and
the robot communicate through one common control unit”, explains managing
director Gerhard Pelzl. As an additional service, L&S provides one human
mentor for the equipment that handles any enquiry of users.
The robot used by Recon.paint is the “PX 2050” from Motoman. It has a working range of 2m and is characterized by an “optimum cost-performance ratio” according to Gerhard Pelzl. “And the robot is very user-friendly, too”, says Olaf Nonn, who, together with four co-workers has been in charge for manual lacquering at Recon.paint and now also took over responsibility for the new robot. Tim Stute and Maik Baars from Olaf Nonns team handle the new equipment. Two further employees are responsible for cleaning and maintenance.
Tim Stute and Maik Baars were trained by L&S in a two-week-program. They are now able to perform basic programming tasks themselves, routine for more complex jobs will come with time. The aim is that users can program standard parts with standard geometries by themselves, L&S provides support for special products. Now that the start-up was successful and the first serial production runs smoothly, Olaf Nonn is looking into getting some programming know-how from his co-workers as well.
Within the current tailor-made project, the robot applies the softfeel-laquer “Ale-xit” made by German manufacturer Mankiewicz. In 24 months, the robot will be working at full capacity in a three-shift, five-days-a-week operation.
Say Olaf Nonn and Recon.paint managing director Juergen Brinker: “If our good impressions are confirmed in the course of the year, the robot may get two brothers in 2008”.

L&S Oberflaechentechnik goes overseas
Chicago is the latest destination for a multi-component-equipment with colour supply made by L&S Oberflaechentechnik of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock. When a leading German automotive supplier decided to build up a new production plant in the US, ordering L&S Oberflaechentechnik 2- and 3-component equipments, that had proved to be the best solution for many years at their German production sites, to take with them was only a logical step. The service-package provided by L&S Oberflaechentechnik includes pre-assembling the made-to-measure devices in Germany, shipping them to the US, installing them in Chicago and instructing users, all carried out by qualified L&S Oberflaechentechnik personnel. On-site service in Chicago includes an internet-connection enabling accessing the programming logic from Germany.
